Spanish outlet Diario Gol, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that the Wales international has decided that he wants to move to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.
However, the same report says that the 28-year-old attacker must wait until the summer before his proposed move to Old Trafford is given the green light by the Spanish side.
The story says that Real Madrid were hoping to offer Bale to Tottenham as part of a swap deal for Harry Kane.
But the article claims that Bale himself would much rather link up with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford as the Portuguese coach looks to bring success back to the club.
It is also claimed that Manchester United failed in an attempt to try and sign Bale from Real Madrid last summer.
The proposed deal could also see goalkeeper David De Gea used as a bargaining chip to try and push through a move at the end of the season.
Bale joined Real Madrid from Tottenham back in 2013 but has struggled with a string of injury problems at The Bernabeu.
