Manchester United have been boosted in their reported pursuit of Jorginho from Napoli, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is reporting that the Brazil-born Italy international is on Manchester United’s transfer radar as the summer window draws ever nearer.
The same report claims that the defensive midfielder’s agents travelled to Manchester in January to sound out the possibility of a move to Old Trafford.
The story also carries quotes from the 26-year-old’s agent claiming that the midfielder could be sold in the summer transfer window, despite his client being happy in Naples.
The midfielder has been a regular fixture in the Napoli team this season and has scored two goals and made four assists in 22 Serie A games for the Italian side.
Manchester United are believed to be on the lookout for a new defensive midfielder in the summer transfer window, with Michael Carrick set to retire at the end of the season and Marouane Fellaini’s future remaining unclear.
The Red Devils will return to Premier League action on Sunday with a crunch clash against Chelsea FC in front of their home fans at Old Trafford.
Manchester United are currently second in the Premier League table.
