Agent wants to help Man United sign top 24-year-old striker from Serie A club – report
Super agent Mino Raiola wants to help Man United sign Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi in the summer, according to reports in Italy
Manchester United could sign Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi with help from Italian super agent Mino Raiola, according to reports in Italy.
Corriere dello Sport, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that Raiola is hoping to position himself as the link between Manchester United and the Inter Milan captain.
Raiola is an agent that will be very familiar to Manchester United supporters given his clients Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Romelu Lukaku have all completed moves to Old Trafford since Jose Mourinho’s appointment.
According to the same article, Icardi’s wife and agent Wanda has been holding negotiations with the Serie A club about a new long-term contract but Inter Milan’s struggles in the Italian top flight could force the Argentina international to consider his options.
The same story reveals that the Inter skipper turned down an approach from Raiola to replace his wife as his representative but the super agent is still hoping to act as an intermediary in a potential summer deal.
Of interest to Manchester United and other top European clubs will be Icardi’s €90m (£80m) release clause in his current contract that can be activated at the end of the season.
Given Philippe Coutinho moved to Barcelona in a £142m deal in January, the Argentina forward would represent great value at £80m.
