Jose Mourinho warned about Man United selling Paul Pogba
The Liverpool FC legend believes a host of top European clubs would be interested in Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba
Mark Lawrenson believes Paul Pogba would attract interest from a host of top clubs if Manchester United put their record signing up for sale.
The Red Devils signed Pogba in an £89m transfer from Serie A giants Juventus in the 2016 summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old won the Europa League and the FA Cup in the 2016-17 season, although Manchester United finished in sixth place.
The France international has struggled to justify his lavish price tag since his return to Old Trafford to prompt criticism of the midfielder.
Pogba was substituted midway through the second half of Manchester United’s losses to Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.
The Frenchman’s future has been a source of debate in recent weeks amid talk of a fallout with Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho.
Ex-Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson claimed that Pogba would still attract interest from top clubs if the Red Devils decided to sell the Frenchman.
“If Mourinho said that Man United will sell Pogba, all the top teams would try to buy him,” Lawrenson told BBC Radio 5 Live.
Manchester United sold Pogba in an £800,000 deal to Serie A giants Juventus in the 2012 summer transfer window under Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Red Devils finished in sixth spot in Pogba’s first season back at the Old Trafford outfit.
