Man United receive potential boost as Real Madrid target Emre Can – report
Manchester United receive a boost in their bid to sign Toni Kroos as Real Madrid look to target Liverpool FC's Emre Can, according to reports in Italy
Manchester United could sign Toni Kroos after Real Madrid expressed an interest in Liverpool FC midfielder Emre Can, according to a report in Italy.
Italian website Tuttosport, as quoted by Teamtalk, is reporting that the La Liga giants are interested in a potential swoop to sign Liverpool FC’s German midfielder.
The same article states that Real Madrid’s move to sign the 23-year-old could free up Manchester United to launch a bid to sign World Cup winner Kroos.
According to the same story, the Germany international would command a transfer fee in the region of £80m as Manchester United look to improve their midfield options.
Can is set to become a free agent at the end of the 2017-18 season after the versatile midfielder entered the final five months of his current deal.
Kroos has won La Liga and two Champions League titles in three and a half seasons at Real Madrid and has scored 11 goals in 176 games in all competitions.
Record signing Paul Pogba has been criticised for his poor performances as part of midfield pair alongside Nemanja Matic over the past couple of weeks.
The France international has struggled to acquit himself well in a more defensive role to prompt talk of Jose Mourinho signing another midfielder in the summer transfer window.
