Man United want to sign quality 28-year-old midfielder – report
Manchester United are keen to complete a deal to sign Toni Kroos from Real Madrid, say reports
Manchester United have identified Toni Kroos as their top midfield transfer target in the summer transfer window, according to reports in the British media.
The Independent, as quoted by Metro, is claiming that Jose Mourinho has his sights firmly set on signing Real Madrid midfielder ahead of Michael Carrick’s retirement at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past and the same story says that Kroos could be sold this summer because Real Madrid are planning an “overhaul” of their squad.
The same story says that the German midfielder is “open” to a move to the Premier League and that Manchester United could well end up being his destination this summer.
It is claimed in the same report that Kroos was close to signing for Manchester United on a free transfer in 2014.
Kroos has scored four goals and made four assists in 19 La Liga appearances for Real Madrid so far this season.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are currently preparing for the first leg of their Champions League last 16 showdown against Sevilla in Spain on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils head into the game on the back of their 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday night.
