Frank Lampard raves about Willian ahead of Man United v Chelsea FC
Frank Lampard was thrilled by Willian's performance for Chelsea FC against FC Barcelona on Tuesday night
Frank Lampard lavished praise on Willian for being “the man” during Chelsea FC’s 1-1 draw with FC Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Brazilian was started in a front three along with Eden Hazard and Pedro Rodriguez at Stamford Bridge and he was in fine form for Antonio Conte’s side.
Willian hit both posts with fine strikes in the first half before he eventually gave the home side the lead in the 62nd minute with a clever low finish into the bottom corner.
Chelsea FC ended up being pegged back by by FC Barcelona as Lionel Messi netted shortly after to earn a 1-1 draw for the Spanish side in the first leg.
Willian will be hoping that he has done enough to earn a spot in the starting line-up for Chelsea FC when they take on Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
And Lampard has admitted that he was hugely impressed by the Brazilian’s display against the Spanish giants on Tuesday night in west London.
Speaking to BT Sport, Lampard said: “We were all looking at Eden Hazard pre-game but I think Willian was the man on Tuesday night.
“He was unlucky with both strikes in the first half. He showed Barcelona what he could do. It was a fantastic goal, he absolutely buried it.”
Chelsea FC head into their clash with Manchester United in fourth place in the Premier League table as they chase a top-four finish this term.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are second in the top flight table.
