Paul Pogba told to be more like Alexis Sanchez at Man United
Stan Collymore says Paul Pogba could learn a thing or two from Alexis Sanchez at Manchester United
Stan Collymore has urged Paul Pogba to take a leaf out of Alexis Sanchez’s book with his performances for Manchester United.
Sanchez has been settling in well to life at Old Trafford following his move from Arsenal as part of the same deal which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan head in the opposite direction.
The Chile international scored his first goal for the Red Devils from the penalty spot in the 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town at Old Trafford in the Premier League last weekend.
Pogba, meanwhile, was criticised for his below-par performance in Manchester United’s 2-0 loss to Spurs last week and he was only used as a substitute in the victory over Huddersfield at the weekend.
Collymore has no doubts about Pogba’s natural ability, but he would like to see the France international perform on a more consistent basis for the Red Devils.
Writing in his column for the Daily Mirror, Collymore said: “Pogba was sensational, for example, in the Europa League final last season.
“But at times he is either a nine out of ten or a five or six out of ten.
“If he had [Alexis] Sanchez’s drive over 90 minutes, he arguably becomes the next big thing in world football.
“People talk about Neymar being the one after Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who have dominated over the last decade.
“But Pogba has everything to dominate a match from central midfield.”
Both Pogba and Sanchez will be expecting to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a trip to Southampton.
Manchester United are currently second in the Premier League table and 13 points behind leaders Manchester City in Jose Mourinho’s second campaign in charge.
