Jamie Carragher uses one word to describe Liverpool FC’s 5-0 win at Porto
The Liverpool FC legend hails Jurgen Klopp's men after a resounding 5-0 win at Porto
Jamie Carragher praised Liverpool FC for a “devastating” performance in Porto after Wednesday night’s 5-0 win in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash.
The Reds made the trip to Portugal following a comfortable 2-0 win over Southampton at St Mary’s last weekend thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
But it was Senegal international Mane who broke the deadlock when his shot crept under Porto goalkeeper Jose Sa with Spanish legend Iker Casillas watching on from the bench.
Salah scored his 30th goal in all competitions for Liverpool FC before half-time to put Jurgen Klopp’s side in control of the last-16 tie.
With Porto pushing for a goal to give them some hope in the clash, Liverpool FC were able to pick off their opponents with counter-attacking goals from Mane and Firmino.
The Senegal forward completed his hat-trick with a long-range effort in the final minutes of the game to secure a 5-0 win and leave the Reds on the brink of a last-eight spot.
Carragher used one word to describe Liverpool FC’s outstanding performance in Portugal.
Carragher wrote on Twitter: “Devastating from @LFC ⚽️⚽️⚽️”
The Reds are looking to win the Champions League for the first time since 2005.
