Jose Mourinho delivers update on Paul Pogba ahead of Sevilla v Man United
Jose Mourinho admits he is unsure whether Paul Pogba will be fit for Manchester United's trip to Sevilla
Jose Mourinho has admitted that he is unsure whether Paul Pogba will be fit for Manchester United’s Champions League trip to Sevilla next week.
The French midfielder sat out the Red Devils’ 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup on Saturday night as the Red Devils booked their place in the sixth round of the competition.
Mourinho was quizzed about Pogba’s absence both before and after the game but the Portuguese coach did not reveal much information about why the midfielder was missing.
The Manchester United boss was asked about whether the 24-year-old would be ready for Manchester United’s last-16 clash against Sevilla on Wednesday night.
However, Mourinho gave little away when quizzed about Pogba’s situation after the FA Cup win on Saturday night.
Speaking at his post-match news conference, Mourinho said: “I don’t know about Paul. I said before the game I was told by the doctor this morning he was not coming.
“We had a good tactical session yesterday and then have to prepare a new team.”
Manchester United are looking to secure a positive result to take back to Old Trafford as they bid to try and reach the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite club competition.
Mourinho brought European glory to Old Trafford last season after having guided the club to the Europa League title in his first campaign in charge.
Manchester United are currently in second place in the Premier League table.
