Martin Keown says Arsenal will have to pay special attention to Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane in Saturday’s north London derby.

The England international has continued his prolific form in the 2017-18 Premier League season after he scored his 100th top-flight goal in a 2-2 draw with Liverpool FC at Anfield last weekend.

Kane’s added-time penalty rescued a point for Spurs at Liverpool FC and took his tally to 22 goals in 25 games in the Premier League this season.

The 24-year-old has netted 13 times in his last 10 games in all competitions and Kane will come up against an Arsenal defence that has conceded 35 times in 26 Premier League outings.

Kane netted Tottenham’s second goal in a 2-0 win over Arsenal in the last-ever north London derby at White Hart Lane in April 2017.

While Keown admitted that it is difficult to man mark Kane, the former Gunners defender urged Arsene Wenger to get his players to pay special attention to the Tottenham marksman, particularly at set-pieces.

“I don’t think you can man-mark Kane, but you have to pay him special attention when the ball is in and around the box,” Keown told the Daily Mail.

“I cannot believe how easy it has been for Kane to score some of his goals recently, finding the net with tap-ins from corners. How can defenders be giving him that much space?

“Kane will find space when he needs to but he is drifting into areas and the defenders are switching off.

“Arsenal play a zonal defensive system but there is room for adjustment. Kane needs to be marked from set-pieces and Arsenal have to put their best marker on him.

Only Alan Shearer has reached 100 Premier League goals quicker than Kane after the England striker brought up his century in 138 top-flight games.

Tottenham are in fifth place and three points ahead of Arsenal in the race to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League.
