Mesut Ozil could be sold by Arsenal’s next manager, according to Martin Keown.

Arsene Wenger’s future at The Emirates has been a constant source of speculation in recent weeks following the north London side’s disastrous recent form.

The Gunners were beaten by Manchester City in the League Cup final and they slumped to back to back defeats by the Citizens and Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League.

With Arsenal in sixth place in the Premier League table it now looks increasingly likely that the Gunners will miss out on a top-four finish for the second season running.

The north London side did go some way towards relieving some of the pressure on Wenger by claiming a 2-0 win over AC Milan in the Europa League on Thursday night.

But most fans will still feel that Wenger could well be replaced by a new manager in the summer after 22 years in charge of the north London club.

And former Arsenal defender Keown believes that Ozil’s future at The Emirates could be in doubt if the new man in charge at The Emirates is not his biggest fan.

Speaking to BT Sport, Keown said: “The next manager coming in might want to sell Ozil.

“I don’t know whether that’s they type of player [they would want]. [But] I’m not sure who would buy him.”

Arsenal are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table and 13 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
