The Daily Star, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is claiming that Arsene Wenger is on the lookout for a controlling playmaker this summer and could make a move for the former Tottenham Hotspur star.
The same report says that Wenger likes the fact that Modric already has experience of playing in the Premier League as the summer transfer window draws nearer.
The story also claims that Arsenal are lining up a £53m bid for the playmaker as Wenger looks to bolster his squad in the summer transfer window.
The 32-year-old playmaker has made two assists and scored one goal in 19 La Liga games in what has been a difficult season for Real Madrid so far.
Meanwhile, Arsenal now have the weekend off as they prepare for their next Premier League game, which isn’t until 1 April against Stoke City at The Emirates after the forthcoming international break.
The north London side are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table and their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League via a top four finish are looking very slim indeed.
