The defending Premier League champions signed Bakayoko in a £40m deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in the 2017 summer transfer window.
Bakayoko played a key role in Monaco’s title success after finishing ahead of Paris Saint-Germain, while the powerful midfielder helped the French club to reach the Champions League semi-finals.
However, the 23-year-old has struggled to adapt to the Premier League following some sluggish performances, most notably a disastrous 30 minute camero in a 4-1 loss to Watford earlier this year.
Bakayoko’s ineffective performances haven’t been helped by the fact that Chelsea FC sold Serbia international Nemanja Matic to their title rivals Manchester United in the weeks after his arrival at Stamford Bridge.
However, former Chelsea FC and France defender Gallas encouraged Bakayoko to pay no attention to his critics.
“I would tell him to just ignore what people have said,” the Frenchman told Goal. “Maybe they are right so maybe you have to work more, but don’t let people put you down because you play football.
“That was your dream to play football and you made a lot of sacrifices to be where you are. Don’t let people put you down and take the criticism in a positive way. Try to finish the season well and be ready for next year.”
Bakayoko has scored two goals and has made two assists in 25 appearances in the Premier League this season.
Chelsea FC are in fifth place and five points behind Tottenham Hotspur ahead of their Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
The Blues will take on Southampton in the FA Cup semi-final next month.
