Chelsea FC are willing to pay Toby Alderweireld weekly wages of £150,000 as they look to try and sign the defender from Tottenham this summer, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mirror, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the west London club are prepared to spend big on trying to land the Belgium international from Spurs this summer.

The same report says that Alderweireld currently finds himself in a contract stand-off with Tottenham and he is yet to sign a new deal with the north London club.

The story claims that the uncertainty surrounding Alderweireld’s future at Spurs has attracted interest from the likes of Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea FC.

And it is also claimed that Chelsea FC are prepared to pay Alderweireld as much as £150,000 a week in wages, which is around the same amount Virgil van Dijk is believed to earn at Liverpool FC.

Chelsea FC are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as the summer transfer window gives the Blues the chance to bolster their squad in the off-season.

The west London side will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on 1 April.
