Ray Wilkins believes Harry Kane’s absence due to injury will give Chelsea FC the edge against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Blues are in fifth place in the Premier League table and five points adrift of Tottenham Hotspur in the race to secure a Champions League spot.

Spurs are five points ahead of Chelsea FC in fourth place thanks in part to Kane’s 24 goals in the 2017-18 Premier League season so far.

The England international is set to miss the London derby at Stamford Bridge this weekend due to an ankle problem.

Chelsea FC were 2-1 winners against Tottenham at Wembley last season in their second fixture of the campaign following a shock loss to Burnley in their opening game of the campaign.

However, Antonio Conte’s men have struggled in the current campaign due to a disappointing return of four losses in their last six Premier League games.

Former Blues midfielder Wilkins gives Chelsea FC a fighting chance of beating Spurs given Kane’s absence.

“It’s a must-win against Tottenham on Sunday, absolute must-win. Tottenham are without Harry Kane, which gives Chelsea the edge,” Wilkins told Sky Sports.

“Tottenham are in good form; I think Chelsea playing against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge will have the upper hand.”

Chelsea FC won the Premier League title with two games to spare last term after the Blues finished seven points clear of their closest challengers Tottenham.

Tottenham have finished in second and third place in the Premier League in the last two seasons.
