Willian tipped to leave Chelsea FC but Man United told to forget about signing Brazilian
Steve Nicol rules out Manchester United signing Willian from Chelsea in the summer
Steve Nicol is tipping Willian to leave Chelsea FC in the summer but has ruled out the Brazil international joining Manchester United.
The South American playmaker has enjoyed a good week in the Blues team following his recent resurgence at Stamford Bridge.
Willian hit the woodwork twice before he finally made the breakthrough in a 1-1 draw with La Liga giants Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 last month.
The 28-year-old broke the deadlock in an impressive performance in Chelsea FC’s 2-1 loss to top-four rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend.
The Brazilian forward has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in the Chelsea FC team since Antonio Conte took over the reins back in 2016.
Willian has been linked with a potential move to Manchester United over the past 12 months or so, while Barcelona have emerged as a potential destination for the South American.
While Nicol believes Willian will leave the west London side this summer, the ex-Liverpool FC defender doesn’t expect the Brazilian to move to Manchester United.
“He could possibly be on his way, I am not sure it will be to Manchester United,” Nicol told ESPN.
“I just do not see Chelsea wanting to give United another great player which is what happened with [Nemanja] Matic.
“If Willian does leave it will not be to United. However, I think he will leave.”
Willian moved to Chelsea FC ahead of interest from Liverpool FC in the 2013 summer transfer window.
The Blues forward has won two Premier League titles and the League Cup at Stamford Bridge.
