The Merseyside outfit can hoist themselves above Manchester United and into second place for a couple of hours if Jurgen Klopp’s side win Saturday’s early kick-off.
Liverpool FC were 5-0 winners against Watford in their last Premier League game thanks to Mohamed Salah’s incredible four-goal haul.
The Egypt international has scored 28 times in 30 games in the Premier League in the current campaign to lead the division’s goal-scoring charts.
Palace have lost four of their last five games in the English top flight to leave Roy Hodgson’s men lingering about the relegation zone.
The Eagles have conceded 48 times in the Premier League, while Liverpool FC are the division’s second-highest goal-scorers with 73 goals.
Former Arsenal star Merson is confident that Liverpool FC will ease to a resounding 3-1 victory over Palace in Saturday’s early kick-off at Selhurst Park.
“Mo Salah – that is it. I just don’t know how you stop him because for me, he is the best in the world without the ball and when he has got it, he’s very good as well so I just don’t know how Crystal Palace can stop him,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“They had a great result last time out, they needed to win against Huddersfield and with Wilfried Zaha back, they look like a better team but at the back, I just don’t think they’ll be able to cope with Liverpool. They will win this game quite easily.”
Liverpool FC haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
The Reds could win the Champions League this season but will need to find a way past Manchester City in the quarter finals.
