Jose Mourinho has convinced Gareth Bale to leave Real Madrid and sign for Manchester United this summer, according to reports in Spain.

Spanish outlet Sport is reporting that Bale is set to leave the Bernabeu at the end of the season and that Manchester United is a likely destination for the 28-year-old Wales star.

The same story says that Mourinho started working on trying to convince Bale to move to Old Trafford last summer and that a switch could be set to materialise this year.

The article cites unnamed sources as saying that Bale has been “convinced” to sign for Manchester United this summer as he seeks an exit from Real Madrid after having struggled for form and fitness this season.

Bale has scored nine goals and made one assist in La Liga this season but he has been limited to just 14 starts in the Spanish top flight so far this term.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are set to return to Premier League action on Saturday when they host Swansea City in the top flight at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are currently second in the table as they bid to try and finish in the top four this season following their sixth-placed finish last term.
