Mohamed Salah is the player Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp really needed, according to ex-Spurs midfielder Ryan Mason.

The Egypt international moved to Liverpool FC in a £39m deal from Serie A giants AS Roma in the 2017 summer transfer window.

Liverpool FC struggled badly in the second half of the 2016-17 season after Sadio Mane was in action at the African Cup of Nations before a knee problem cut his campaign short.

Without the Senegal international, Liverpool FC lacked pace in wide positions and stumbled over the line in the top-four race despite a late flurry of goals.

Salah has hit the ground running at Liverpool FC this term following an impressive return of 28 goals in 30 games in the Premier League this season.

The African forward has also netted eight times in cup competitions to help Liverpool FC reach the Champions League quarter-finals ahead of their clash against Manchester City next month.

Former Tottenham star Mason believes Liverpool FC signed the perfect player to fit Klopp’s system at Anfield.

“Salah is the exact player Klopp wanted,” Mason told Sky Sports.

“The way Liverpool play – the high pressing game and the speed of their attack. It suited the player. He has been phenomenal.”

The Reds are in third place in the Premier League table and two points adrift of Manchester United.

Liverpool FC haven’t won the Premier League title but appear to be making good progress under Klopp.
