Ian Rush believes confidence is the key to Mohamed Salah’s form at Liverpool FC.

The Egypt international moved to the Merseyside outfit in a £39m deal from Serie A giants AS Roma in the 2017 summer transfer window.

Salah spent eight months at Chelsea FC under Jose Mourinho in 2014 but the African forward has thrived at the Anfield outfit.

The Liverpool FC summer signing scored on his Premier League debut for the Reds following a goal in a 3-3 draw at Watford in their season opener.

Salah scored four times in a 5-0 win over the Hornets at Anfield in the Premier League last weekend to take his tally to 28 goals in 30 games.

The 25-year-old netted a further eight times in cup competitions this season to help Liverpool FC reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

Former Liverpool FC striker Rush attempted to explain Salah’ s incredible form for the Reds in his debut season at the Anfield outfit.

“I think it’s all down to confidence,” Rush told ESPN.

“I think when you’re playing so well like that, you go out knowing you’re going to score.

“When you’re on a high, you try everything. You try ridiculous things, with your left foot, your right foot, with your head — everything.

“If you’re not as confident, then you’re scared to try those things. I think that’s the difference when you’re in a purple patch like that. You’re willing to try everything because you know nine times out of 10 that it will come off.

“You just can’t wait to get out there because you know you’re going to get a chance. And if you get a chance, you’re most probably going to score. That’s what happens.”

Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table in Klopp’s first full season in charge at Anfield.

The Reds were 5-0 winners against FC Porto in the Champions League round of 16 to set up a meeting with Premier League leaders Manchester City.
