Jurgen Klopp has challenged his Liverpool FC players to show character as they look to bounce back from the disappointment of their 2-1 loss to Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Reds slumped to a disappointing defeat by their bitter local rivals at Old Trafford as Marcus Rashford struck twice in the first half for Jose Mourinho’s men to notch up the victory for the home side.

The defeat ended Liverpool FC’s strong run of form and it caused them to drop down into fourth place in the Premier League table with eight games left to play this season.

Liverpool FC will aim to get back to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday evening when they host Watford at Anfield in their next game.

And Klopp has told his Liverpool FC players that they must look to respond as quickly as possible after the disappointment of their defeat by Manchester United at the weekend.

Speaking at his post-match news conference on Saturday, Liverpool FC manager Klopp said: “We have to respond, 100 per cent.

“But in the moment I cannot, and I don’t want to, think about anything else. I still have to work to swallow this one and it’s quite difficult.”

He added: “It feels massively rubbish and that’s not nice. We will carry on of course, but in the moment it’s a big disappointment.”

Liverpool FC are aiming to at least finish in the top four this season after they ended up in fourth place in the table last term under Klopp.
