Luis Garcia believes that the first leg of Liverpool FC’s clash with Manchester City will be crucial as the Reds look to try and reach the Champions League semi-finals.

The Merseyside outfit have been paired against their Premier League rivals in Europe’s elite club competition as they look to try and book their place in the last four.

Liverpool FC will play the first leg of the quarter-final tie when they host the Citizens on 4 April at Anfield next week.

And the return leg will be played at The Etihad on 10 April as the two Premier League sides go head to head in Europe’s top club competition.

Former Liverpool FC attacker Garcia believes that the Reds need to make home advantage count when they take on Manchester City at Anfield next week.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Garcia said: “It’s difficult to talk about predictions right now. It’s a fantastic game that we are all going to enjoy.

“It will be tough because City are doing well, but so too are Liverpool.

“I’m sure the first game is going to be very important.”

Liverpool FC will first return to Premier League action when they take on Crystal Palace at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they look to try and finish in the top four and secure qualification for next season’s Champions League.

Liverpool FC finished fourth in the table last term.
