Simon Mignolet has insisted that he is simply focused on trying to prove himself to Jurgen Klopp as he bids to win back the number one spot at Liverpool FC.

The Belgian shot-stopper has lost his place in the first team to Loris Karius in recent weeks, with the German goalkeeper preferred between the stick under Klopp of late.

Indeed, Mignolet has not featured for Liverpool FC since the 3-2 loss to West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup at Anfield on 27 January.

It remains to be seen whether the Belgian will be able to force his way back into the first team at Anfield or not in the coming weeks in the lead up to the World Cup.

Mignolet could also be set to consider his long-term future at Liverpool FC if he is unable to break back into the side at Anfield.

However, the goalkeeper insists that he is simply focused on performing for Liverpool FC in training for now.

Mignolet told a news conference over the weekend: “Always the only thing you try to do is prove every time in training you are ready for when the chance comes along.

“It is never easy of course because I have never in my career spent time on the bench, but it is how it is and the only thing you can do is try to change it but it is never easy.”

Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds are currently in third place in the Premier League table.
