The Reds signed the former Chelsea FC winger in a £39m deal from Serie A giants AS Roma last summer.
Salah’s move was initially met with some skepticism given his disappointing stint at Stamford Bridge.
However, the Egypt international hit the ground running and became the 13th Liverpool FC player to score 30 goals in a season.
Salah has already surpassed Luis Suarez’s tally of 31 goals from the Merseyside club’s memorable 2013-14 campaign.
The African football of the year has scored in Liverpool FC’s last five Premier League games to help keep their top-four challenge on track.
Former Arsenal midfielder Merson believes Salah is worthy of the PFA player of the year award for his incredible performance from the wing.
“It is Salah all day for me [for the player of the season],” Merson told Sky Sports.
“What he has done in his first season at Liverpool is phenomenal. Nobody would have expected that.
“Over 20 goals from out wide, while he’s also scored big goals in big football matches – he’s the complete package with his work rate and pressing.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term to secure a return to the Champions League.
The Reds haven’t won the Premier League title but stand a good chance at finishing in second place in the table this term.
