Jurgen Klopp has warned his Liverpool FC stars that they cannot afford to take their foot off the pedal in the race for Champions League qualification.

The Reds are currently in third place in the Premier League table after their impressive recent form in the top flight.

Klopp saw his team secure a comprehensive 4-1 win over West Ham United at Anfield last weekend as they continued their march towards Champions League qualification for the second season running under the German manager.

Liverpool FC are now preparing for their next Premier League game, a home clash against Newcastle United at Anfield on Saturday evening.

The Reds surpassed the 100-goal mark for the season last weekend but Klopp has warned his team that they must continue to drive forward as they look to achieve their goals this season.

Speaking to Liverpool FC’s website, Reds boss Klopp said: “A nice number [100 goals] but we cannot stop.

“We have a lot of games to play still. I have said it a lot of times: we have created a proper basis, that’s it. If we hadn’t played football like this or the last game or the game before that, we could not be where we are.

“We know with the quality we have we are responsible for good results. The only problem we have is that there are a few other teams with quality as well.

“So we have to score, we have to create, we have to make and score goals, we have to defend and we need to be ready for each game.”

Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League last season as they booked their place in the Champions League.

The Merseyside outfit have all but secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the Champions League by beating FC Porto 5-0 in the first leg of their last 16 clash last month.
