The two Premier League sides were pitted against each other in Europe’s elite club competition as they prepare to battle it out for a place in the semi-finals.
Liverpool FC got the better of Manchester City when the two teams last met in the Premier League at Anfield back on 14 February, with the Reds claiming a 4-3 victory over Pep Guardiola’s men.
The two English sides will now go head to head over two legs as they look to try and progress in Europe’s elite club competition.
And Reds goalkeeper Mignolet was clearly excited about the prospect of coming up against a couple of his Belgian national team-mates as he singled out Vincent Kompany and Kevin De Bruyne ahead of the game.
Mignolet wrote on Twitter: “And all-in offensive and attractive @ChampionsLeague quarter-final coming up! @VincentKompany & @DeBruyneKev, prepare for the Reds! 🇬🇧🔴👊 #CLDraw #LFC #YNWA.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action after the forthcoming international break when they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on 31 March.
The Reds are aiming to at least finish in the top four under Jurgen Klopp this season as they bid to qualify for the Champions League once again under their German manager.
