Liverpool FC have made contact with Jorginho as they attempt to beat Manchester United to the signature of the Napoli midfielder, according to reports in Brazil.

Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that the Red have stepped up their pursuit of the 26-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window.

The same report says that Liverpool FC are looking to sign Jorginho as a potential replacement for Emre Can, who looks set to leave Anfield when his contract expires at the end of the season.

It is also claimed that Manchester United have earmarked Jorginho as a target of their own as they look for a long-term successor to Michael Carrick, who is due to retire in the summer.

The same story says that Liverpool FC have now made contact with the Italy international’s camp as they bid to try and snap him up in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool FC are bound to be linked with a number of players in the coming weeks and months as the summer transfer window draws ever nearer.

Meanwhile, the Reds are currently preparing for the return leg of their last 16 Champions League clash against FC Porto at Anfield on Tuesday night.
