The Red Devils headed into the game looking to get back to winning ways after the disappointment of their shock 2-1 loss to Sevilla in the Champions League last 16 on Tuesday night.
Lukaku, who signed for the Red Devils from Everton last summer, headed the home side into the lead in the 37th minute when he connected with Nemanja Matic’s brilliant cross.
And Matic made it 2-0 to the home side to secure their spot in the semi-finals at Wembley when he headed in Ashley Young’s free-kick.
Former Manchester United midfielder Scholes has clearly been impressed by what he has seen from Lukaku in recent weeks in a Red Devils shirt.
Speaking during BT Sport‘s coverage of the game, Scholes said: “It was better from Manchester United. They got the first goal which made a big difference.
“It was a great ball from Matic and Lukaku has had a really good season goal-scoring wise.”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action after the international break when they host Swansea City at Old Trafford on 31 March.
The Red Devils are currently in second place in the table.
