Manchester United have drawn up a shortlist of six transfer targets to strengthen their midfield this summer, according to reports in the British media.

The Manchester Evening News is reporting that Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho has told the club’s scouts to scour the globe on the lookout for reinforcements this summer.

The Red Devils are set to lose Michael Carrick at the end of the season as the veteran midfielder hangs up his boots, and Marouane Fellaini could be set to leave the club on a free transfer.

The same report says that Manchester United are expected to sign at least one new midfielder this summer and that the Red Devils have been tracking a host of players.

The story claims that Arturo Vidal, Marco Verratti, Jean-Michael Seri, Fred, Jorginho and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic are all being tracked by Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to the same report, Mourinho is keen to add a dominant midfield player to his ranks in the summer window as he looks to build a team capable of winning the title next season.

The Red Devils are currently in second place in the Premier League table as they look to try and finish the campaign as strongly as possible.
