The Red Devils have made progress under the Portuguese head coach in the 2017-18 season but Manchester United are a long way behind runaway leaders Manchester City.
Indeed, Manchester United’s title challenge faded in November following dropped points at Huddersfield Town and Liverpool FC to allow the Citizens to open up a gap.
Mourinho’s style of player has attracted criticism given his defensive approach to games against their traditional rivals such as Liverpool FC and Manchester City.
Manchester United played out a dour goalless draw with La Liga side Sevilla in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash in Spain last month.
Mourinho is looking to add to the Europa League and League Cup trophies that the Portuguese coach won in his first season at Old Trafford.
Former Arsenal midfielder Parlour believes Mourinho is delivering exactly what he promised on the basis of his previous stints at Chelsea FC, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
“Man United knew what they were going to get,” Parlour told Sky Sports.
“Why else did they sign him? He is a winner. They won two trophies last year.”
Manchester United are looking to win the Champions League for the first time since 2008 when the Red Devils beat Chelsea FC on penalties.
