Yahoo! Sport is reporting that the Spanish shot-stopper is yet to be offered a new deal by the Red Devils as they look to try and get him to commit his long-term future to the Premier League club.
The 27-year-old has less than 16 months left on his current contract with the Red Devils and he has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in the past.
The same story says that De Gea’s representatives have been “pushing” for Manchester United to offer the goalkeeper an improved contract at the Old Trafford club.
The article also claims that Manchester United’s delay in getting the situation resolved has only served to fuel the speculation that De Gea could eventually head to Real Madrid.
The goalkeeper was on the verge of signing for Real Madrid from Manchester United back in the summer of 2015 but the deal fell through at the final hour due to paperwork issues.
Meanwhile, De Gea will be expecting to start in goal for Manchester United when the Red Devils host bitter local rivals Liverpool FC at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime in the Premier League.
