The Red Devils have been coming to terms with the disappointment of their Champions League exit at the hands of Sevilla at Old Trafford on Tuesday night after a shock 2-1 loss at the last 16 stage.
Jose Mourinho’s men were in disappointing form against the Spanish side as they failed to click into gear, despite having impressed in their 2-1 win over Liverpool FC in the Premier League at Old Trafford last weekend.
Attentions are now inevitably going to begin to turn towards the summer transfer window and the players Mourinho could look to strengthen his squad with.
However, former Manchester United star Ince believes that it is clear that the Red Devils need to bring in players who have the capability to galvanise their team-mates through difficult situations.
Speaking to Paddy Power, Ince said: “I can say for a fact that if me, Bryan Robson or Roy Keane were on that pitch and the [Sevilla] game had started like that, it would be a different story.
“There’s not one leader in that entire United team. Not one player who can get a grip of the game, organise the players and make a difference. In fact, I didn’t see any player take another to one side and say, ‘this isn’t good enough, we need to get a grip’.
“Your top players, Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, David De Gea and Alexis Sanchez, should be able to stand up when the team is in trouble like that and change the game.
“None of them were capable, and I believe that says a lot.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United are currently preparing for their FA Cup quarter-final clash against Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday night.
The Red Devils are in second place in the Premier League table as they bid to try and finish in the top four this season under Mourinho.
