The French international midfielder has come in for criticism this season for failing to produce consistent form for Jose Mourinho’s team.
Indeed, the 25-year-old has found himself as in and out of the team at Old Trafford this term and both he and Alexis Sanchez were dropped to the bench for the FA Cup win over Brighton last weekend.
Pogba has still managed to score three goals and make nine assists in 19 Premier League games for the Red Devils this season despite his stuttering form.
Getting the best out of the former Juventus midfielder seems to be one of Mourinho’s biggest challenges at Old Trafford.
However, former Manchester United defender Neville believes that a lot of it will come down to Pogba’s own attitude and mentality during games.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said: “Paul Pogba has got the character and personality to play for United, there’s no doubt about that. He’s played in the biggest matches in Europe at a huge club in Juventus. What he has got to do is perform consistently.
“Some will say it is down to the position he plays, while some will say it is his lack of concentration and focus.
“It is never a matter of a black and white in the sense that there’s always a player’s reason and always a manager’s reason, but as I look at it he needs to play with higher levels of concentration.”
Pogba will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action after the international break with a home clash against Swansea City.
The Red Devils are currently second in the Premier League table as they chase a top-four finish this season.
