Manchester United are leading the race to sign Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich this summer, according to reports in Germany.

German outlet Kicker, as quoted by ESPN, is claiming that the Red Devils are in pole position to land the 29-year-old forward should he leave the Bundesliga champions at the end of the season.

According to the same report, Manchester United are the only club to have made a move for the Poland international so far, after he switched agents earlier this year.

The same article says that both Chelsea and Real Madrid are also monitoring Lewandowski’s situation at Bayern Munich with a view to a possible summer move for the forward.

Lewandowski has scored 32 goals in all competitions this season and he is under contract at Bayern Munich until the summer of 2021.

Manchester United are bound to be on the lookout for reinforcements in all departments this summer as Jose Mourinho looks to assemble a squad capable of challenging Manchester City’s dominance in the Premier League next season.

The Red Devils, who have not won the title since 2013, are currently on course to finish as runners-up to Manchester City in the Premier League table this season.
