The Portuguese coach watched his side slump to a disappointing 2-1 loss to Sevilla in the last 16 of Europe’s elite club competition on Tuesday night as they failed to click into gear in front of their home fans.
The defeat has left Manchester United playing for a top-four finish in the Premier League and the FA Cup in what looks set to be a disappointing campaign under Mourinho.
The Portuguese coach led Manchester United to Europa League and League Cup glory last season despite the Red Devils’ disappointing sixth-placed finish in the Premier League.
And former Manchester United captain Keane feels that Mourinho is under pressure at Old Trafford following his side’s inconsistent form this season.
Speaking to ITV Sport on Wednesday night, Keane said: “Mourinho will obviously try to defend the team, but I won’t take much notice of what he said.
“Last season, the manager was saying he had won three trophies and he was including the Charity Shield. My God, now you’re in trouble.”
Manchester United are now preparing to return to FA Cup action when they take on Brighton and Hove Albion in the quarter-finals at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.
The Red Devils are currently in second place in the Premier League table as they at least look to try and finish as runners up to Manchester City this season.
