Manchester United are beginning to be linked with a number of players as the summer transfer window draws nearer and Umtiti is one of the names touted as a potential target for Jose Mourinho.
The central defender is reportedly being monitored by the Red Devils as Mourinho looks to strengthen his rearguard options ahead of the summer window.
According to the Daily Mirror, Umtiti is also currently in a contract stand-off with FC Barcelona, who are reportedly refusing to match the defender’s current wage demands.
Now, the 24-year-old has responded directly to suggestions that he could be set to leave FC Barcelona and sign for Manchester United, who are said to be considering activating his £60m release clause.
Umtiti was asked in an interview with Telefoot: “In the last few weeks there has been talk of Manchester United’s interest in you. Are you interested?”
And the French defender simply avoided answering the question by replying: “Joker”.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are currently preparing to return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon when they host Swansea City at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are currently in second place in the Premier League table as they bid to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League.
