Paul Merson is backing Manchester United to ease to a comfortable win over Swansea City in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils will welcome the Welsh outfit to Old Trafford after Liverpool FC take on Crystal Palace in the weekend’s early kick-off.

As a result, Manchester United could find themselves relegated to third place for the 15:00 kick-off depending on the result at Selhurst Park.

Jose Mourinho’s side have won their last three Premier League games to cement second spot in the Premier League table.

However, Manchester United will host a resurgent Swansea team that are unbeaten in their last five top-flight games to move clear of the relegation zone.

The Red Devils were 4-0 winners against Swansea at the Liberty Stadium back in August.

Former Arsenal midfielder Merson believes Manchester United will make light work of Swansea at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

“Man Utd just don’t blow teams away,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“You look at the game and Swansea will sit 11 behind the ball and make it difficult, but Man Utd just don’t have the guile to break teams down.

“I’ve watched them play enough times this season and I don’t see them winning 5-0 or 6-0.”

Manchester United lost 2-1 to La Liga giants Sevilla in the Champions League round of 16 earlier this month.

The Red Devils were 2-0 winners against Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford.

Manchester United will have to beat Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semi-final to reach the Wembley showpiece.
