Manchester United are prepared to hand Bayern Munich star Arturo Vidal a £240,000-a-week contract to move to Old Trafford this summer, according to a report in Chile.

La Cuarta, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that Manchester United are interested in the experienced Chile international to bolster their midfield options.

Jose Mourinho will need to add more depth in the middle of the park this summer with Michael Carrick set to retire and Marouane Fellaini set to become a free agent.

The same article states that Vidal has little over 12 months remaining on his current deal and will be available on a free transfer at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.

The story goes on to claim that the Red Devils are willing to pay £42m to sign Vidal despite the Bayern midfielder turning 31 in May.

Manchester United are prepared to hand Vidal a four-year deal worth £240,000 a week, which would presumably be appealing as the Chilean’s last big contract of his career.

Vidal’s compatriot Alexis Sanchez completed a move to Manchester United in a swap deal from Arsenal in the January transfer window.

Manchester United are in second place in the Premier League table but 16 points adrift of runaway leaders Manchester City.
