Manchester United would prefer to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo rather than recruit Gareth Bale in the summer transfer window, according to a report in Spain.

Spanish media outlet Diario Gol, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that the Red Devils are interested in both Bale and Ronaldo ahead of the summer.

The same article states that Manchester United would be interested in signing a Galatico despite the Red Devils’ insistence that there will be no big-name attacking recruits following Alexis Sanchez’s addition in the January transfer window.

According to the same story, the 20-time English champions are determined to bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford in what would be a sentimental transfer almost nine years after his departure to Real Madrid.

Manchester United have been linked with a move to sign Bale on a regular basis over the past three summers amid doubts surrounding the Welshman’s long-term future at the Champions League holders.

Ronaldo has scored 22 goals and has made five assists in 23 appearances in La Liga this term, while the Portuguese forward has also netted 12 times in eight Champions League games.

Bale, on the other hand, has scored a mere nine goals in 19 games in the Spanish top flight.
