Antonio Conte has insisted that he has been delighted by Andreas Christensen’s performances for Chelsea FC this season but has warned the defender that he still has plenty of room for improvement.

The Denmark international has been a regular fixture in the Chelsea FC team in recent months since having returned from a two-year loan spell at German side Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer.

Christensen has been earning praise for his strong performances and he was rewarded with a new contract by Chelsea FC earlier this year.

The 21-year-old will now be hoping to hold down a regular place in the first team at Stamford Bridge as he looks to establish himself as one of the Blues’ first choice defenders.

He has made 24 appearances in the Premier League for the Blues and has also featured 13 times in the cup competitions this season.

And Conte has opened up about his feelings on the Danish defender following his strong form for the Blues this term.

Speaking to Sky Sports before Chelsea FC’s defeat by Tottenham on Sunday, Conte said: “He’s a young player.

“I think that he’s showed great maturity and great personality. For sure he has to improve. But we are talking about a player who is only 21 years old.”

Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action next weekend when they host West Ham United at Stamford Bridge looking to return to winning ways in the top flight.
