Patrick Vieira has declared that he is ready to take on the challenge of becoming the Arsenal manager.

Arsene Wenger has announced that he will stand down as Gunners boss at the end of the 2017-18 season following a challenging campaign for Arsenal.

The north London side are in sixth place in the Premier League table and a long way behind Tottenham Hotspur, who are in the final Champions League qualification spot.

Arsenal lost 3-0 to Manchester City in the League Cup final after a 4-2 loss to Championship outfit Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup third round.

The Gunners can still win some silverware in Wenger’s final season if Arsenal get their hands on the Europa League trophy to qualify for the Champions League.

Vieira has been named as a potential replacement for Wenger, while Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and ex-Gunners captain Mikel Arteta have also been linked with the role.

The France legend is currently in charge of Major League Soccer outfit New York City FC.

Asked whether he could become next Gunners manager, Vieira told Sky Sports:

“If the question is, if I’m ready. Yes, I’m ready.”

Arsenal will have to beat La Liga giants Atletico Madrid to reach the Europa League final for the first time under Wenger.
