Gordon Strachan believes that Arsenal need to spend big on a “completely new back four” during the summer transfer window.

The north London side are starting to prepare for life without Arsene Wenger after the Gunners boss announced that he will be standing down at the end of the season following 22 years in charge at Arsenal.

Attentions will now inevitably turn towards who the north London side plan to appoint as their next manager as the speculation begins.

However, there will also be a focus on the players that the Gunners could look to sign this summer as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.

And former Scotland manager Strachan clearly feels that the north London side need to make some significant additions to their defence this summer.

Speaking on The Debate on Sky Sports, Strachan said: “They need a new complete back four. Arsenal need to spend money on those guys.”

Arsenal are currently preparing for their Premier League clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners will then turn their attentions back towards Europa League affairs and their trip to Atletico Madrid for the return leg of their semi-final clash on Thursday night next week.

Arsenal have struggled to find consistent form in the Premier League and are sixth in the table.
