The German playmaker sat out Arsenal’s 4-1 win over West Ham United due to illness and it remains to be seen whether he will have recovered in time for the semi-final first leg clash at The Emirates later this week.
Midfielder Jack Wilshere is also currently nursing an ankle injury, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan is sidelined with a knee problem.
Wenger confirmed that Mkhitaryan will definitely miss Thursday night’s game due to injury, but that both Ozil and Wilshere will undergo late fitness tests ahead of the game.
Speaking at his post-match news conference at The Emirates on Sunday, Wenger said: “Jack had a training session today and he looked positive so he has a good chance to be available for Thursday.
“Ozil was sickness [flu] so I cannot tell you much more about that. We will have to see how he recovers tomorrow [Monday].
“But Mkhitaryan won’t be available on Thursday.”
Arsenal are aiming to try and win the Europa League this season as they look to try and secure their place in the Champions League for next term.
The Gunners are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table and looking unlikely to finish in the top four this season, leaving the Europa League as their best hope of Champions League qualification.
Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.
