Arsenal are worried that Jack Wilshere will reject their offer of a new contract and leave the club on a free transfer this summer, according to reports in the British media.

The Guardian is reporting that the midfielder is not close to signing the Gunners’ latest offer of a new deal, which is reported to be worth around £80,000 in weekly wages.

The same report says that the 26-year-old is currently more likely to leave Arsenal than sign a new deal with his boyhood club.

It also claims that Everton, West Ham and Juventus are the clubs leading the race for Wilshere’s signature this summer if he does indeed end up leaving Arsenal on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The story says that Wilshere’s contract situation has been rumbling on since September after he chose to stay and fight for his place in the first team at The Emirates.

Wilshere has been in good form for the Gunners and fought his way back into the side following a string of solid performances in the Europa League for Arsene Wenger’s men.

The midfielder has scored two goals and made three assists in a total of 31 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal so far this season.
