Jack Wilshere is confident that Arsenal have what it takes to get the result they need against Atletico Madrid to reach the Europa League final.

The Gunners took the lead against the Spanish side in the first leg of the semi-final clash at The Emirates last week but were pegged back by Antonine Griezmann’s late goal.

The away goal gives Atletico the slight advantage heading into the return leg in Spain in Thursday night as the two sides battle it out for a place in the final against either Salzburg or Marseille.

Arsenal will be looking to covert more of their chances after they dominated proceedings against 10-man Atletico in the first leg.

And Wilshere seems to be confident that the Gunners will be able to give a good account of themselves against Diego Simeone’s men in the return leg on Thursday night.

Speaking to Arsenal’s website after the game last week, Wilshere said: “We’re confident that we can go to Madrid and with the chances we created tonight, we are definitely going to create some chances and hopefully we’ll put them away.”

He added: “We’re going to have to take the positives from tonight as we created loads and loads of chances and they have a great goalkeeper, but at the same time we found ways through their defence and we have to keep doing that.

“Hopefully a little bit of luck will be on our side on the night.”

Arsenal are aiming to try and win the Europa League this season so that they can secure their place in the Champions League group stage for next season.

The north London side are currently in sixth place in the Premier League and poised to miss out on a top-four finish for the second season running.
