Rio Ferdinand was delighted to see Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku combine for Manchester United’s second goal in a 2-0 win at Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils were looking to bounce back from a disappointing 1-0 loss to West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford in the Premier League last weekend.

Manchester United made the breakthrough in the first half when Chris Smalling scored in successive away games in the Premier League.

The visitors were 2-0 up in the second half when Pogba teed up Lukaku for his 16th goal in 32 games in his debut season at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho made wholesale changes to his starting XI for the trip to Bournemouth but Pogba and Lukaku retained their places in the team.

Former Manchester United star Ferdinand was delighted to see Pogba and Lukaku perform well in Manchester United’s win.

Ferdinand wrote on Twitter: “Pogba…. to…. Romelu… Goal! 0-2 @ManUtd 👊🏽⚽️”

Manchester United are in second place in the Premier League table and four points ahead of Liverpool FC in the race to finish as runners up behind champions Manchester City.

The Red Devils signed Alexis Sanchez in a transfer from Arsenal in the January transfer window as Henrikh Mkhitaryan moved in the other direction to The Emirates.
