The Blues will make the trip to Burnley on Thursday night in search of successive Premier League victories.
Chelsea FC came from 2-0 down to Southampton to emerge 3-2 winners at St Mary’s courtesy of goals from Olivier Giroud and Eden Hazard.
The west London side lost 3-2 to Burnley in their opening game of the Premier League season to make a suspect start to their title defence.
Burnley were 2-1 winners against Leicester City at Turf Moor last weekend to move to within two points of sixth-placed Arsenal.
Sean Dyche’s side can hoist themselves above Arsenal if Burnley manage to secure back-to-back victories over Chelsea FC this season.
The Clarets are unbeaten in 11 of their 16 games in the Premier League this season at Turf Moor.
Former Blues winger Nevin believes Burnley will do everything possible to beat Chelsea FC and move ahead of Arsenal in the race to secure a Europa League spot.
“If it is honesty you are seeking in football you look no further than Thursday evening and our opponents Burnley,” Nevin told Chelsea FC’s website.
“They will throw everything at Chelsea considering they still have Arsenal in their sights. I was at the Gunners game Sunday and going by that performance it is a definite possibility that Sean Dyche’s team could embarrass Arsenal by overtaking them in the run in.”
Chelsea FC finished in first place in the Premier League table last season and seven points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in the title race.
