The Denmark international has tied down a regular starting spot for the defending Premier League champions in the 2017-18 season.
Christensen managed to break in Conte’s back three at the expense of David Luiz despite Chelsea FC winning the title with two games to spare last term.
The 21-year-old has excelled as part of the Chelsea FC defence throughout most of the season but the Danish starlet hasn’t been immune to the odd mistake.
Conte has stuck with Christensen for 24 games in the Premier League in the current campaign despite the centre-half’s errors.
Speaking to the Daily Express about his first season in the Chelsea FC’s starting XI, Christensen said:
“It’s been a difficult time recently. But I’m happy with the overall season.
“It’s easy to just look at the recent games, but I try to remember I played probably 25-30 games with no mistakes at all before that.
“Everyone knows you can’t go through a whole season not making a mistake, as a defender – it’s impossible.
“That’s the bad part about our job – when there’s a goal, there’s a good chance you’re the one getting pointed at, but you still have to take responsibility next time you get the ball and do what’s best for the team.
“It helps when you’ve got good team-mates who take care of you and a manager who believes in you.
“That’s only made things more comfortable for me, and now I want to progress even more.”
The Denmark international spent two seasons on loan at Bundesliga giants Borussia Monchengladbach before his return to Chelsea FC last summer.
Christensen netted seven times in 82 games in all competitions during his spell at Monchengladbach during a two-year loan.
The Blues can still finish the 2017-18 season with some silverware if Chelsea FC can get past Southampton in the FA Cup semi-final.
Chelsea FC lost 4-1 to FC Barcelona in the Champions League round of 16.
