Stuart Pearce has claimed that Chelsea FC are missing “some ingredients” in their second season under Antonio Conte.

Chelsea FC won the Premier League title in Conte’s first season in charge of the Blues following his appointment in 2016.

The Blues are in fifth place in the Premier League table and are facing a tough battle to secure a top-four spot.

The west London side have been handed a lifeline following Tottenham Hotspur’s two-game winless run in the Premier League.

Spurs lost 3-1 to Premier League champions Manchester City before a 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Tuesday.

Chelsea FC can still win some silverware this season if Conte’s men manage to get past Southampton in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley.

Former Manchester City star Pearce believes Chelsea FC aren’t the same team as Conte’s title-winning side last term.

“Is Conte going to stay? We are unsure,” Pearce told Sky Sports.

“They are an outstanding side. They play a formation they know and has won them the league.

“They were just down on the Chelsea of last year. There was an ingredient missing.”

Chelsea FC have won the Premier League title in two of the past three seasons under Jose Mourinho and then Conte.

The Blues lost 4-1 to Spanish side FC Barcelona in the Champions League round of 16 last month.
